Home Owner Bio
Hello! We are Dan & Jen, founders of My Home to Share. My wife and I are the generation that actually enjoyed going to public school, quenching our thirst from any available neighborhood garden hose, and most importantly - buying a bag of candy with the 77 pennies stuffed inside those corduroy pant pockets. That was the fun stuff, but our journey from childhood to now was often very difficult. We were both born and raised in Northern California and grew up going to church with our families. We met in 1993, Jen was 19 and I was 20. One year later we were married. We tried living what we thought was the best life, partying it up Monday through Saturday with our non-church friends, and then occasionally waking up early on Sundays to attend church with our church friends. This wasn’t working, and we often felt unsatisfied, and completely unfulfilled. Our son, Garrett was born in 2000, and then Grace, in 2001. Jen rededicated her life to the Lord right after the birth of our son, and attended church frequently. I would sometimes go with her and the kids to church, but didn’t fully re-engage until later in life. I thank God for my wife’s calling and conviction to lead our family spiritually when I didn’t. After a church mission trip to Alaska in 2019 - God put it on my heart to move there, so we did in 2022. We were so blessed to have our adult kids move as well, and I was able to keep my job with a company I had been with for 24 years at this point. Then came 2025! It started with a trip to Kauai in February that was unforgettably great, except for the 14 hours we spent in the Lihue airport because of a delayed flight on our way home. The overdue warm getaway and quality time together had touched us so much that Jen used the 14 hour delay to pray and ask God to show her a way for us to be able to afford trips like this more often. This was the moment the idea of My Home to Share was conceived. When we finally arrived home Jen started to research home exchange companies, and learned a lot. We were hesitant to join any of these companies because their values differed from ours and our calling to Jesus. We discussed the need and opportunity to create a platform that is a faith based home sharing business and ministry. It was clear from the start that MHTS would be rooted in His Word. People from around the world will be able to connect with one another, sharing their homes and their faith, making a difference by simply using what God has given us. After extensive shoulder surgery 2 days upon returning home from our vacation, and exactly 4 weeks after surgery came the unexpected zoom call from my boss ending my 27 year career with the company. I had been praying more than ever and asking God for BIG changes in our lives but didn’t see this one coming. But, thankfully it did. This brought out issues that needed to be healed in my life, marriage, and with God - creating in me a fatih like I’ve never known. We took this seemingly frightening setback as confirmation from Him to pursue this new faith-based home sharing dream. So here we are, following Him in faith knowing that He is our provider and the one who answers our prayers. What an honor it is to share our story and we can’t wait to start this new journey with you. ~ God bless, Dan & Jen
